Well, if you’re not gonna take my word for it that this book is great, check out some pages.
There are 20 chapters in the book: Funny lists, sad lists, unhealthy lists, old peoples’ lists, highly-organized lists, lists with notes and drawings on them, lists from all 50 U.S. states and many other categories. I’ve got more than 2,000 found lists and this book is the best of the best, the weirdest of the weird and the funniest of the funny.
It’s not just lists, though. There are numerous sidebars that cover everything from the most commonly misspelled words on American’s grocery lists to shoplifting lists to a 2,000-year-old shopping list to a chance meeting in the bathroom with Chevy Chase.

As you can see, the “Short story about life based on other peoples’ grocery lists” on this site is just one more way of seeing the humor and humanity in grocery lists. The book doesn’t include that story — it’s a free online bonus for you — but it does feature an amazing assortment of lists, wisecrackery and strangeness.
