Obama–The Second Time Around…

November 6, 2012. Truly a “Night To Remember”!

After the successful re-election of President Obama on that historic night I needed some music, a “victory mix” to celebrate the occasion. So, with a little help, no check that, with a lot of help and many great suggestions from a lot of my friends on Facebook… I put together this playlist.

We call it “Obama 2012 Victory Mix – The Second Time Around”.

Now, originally, it was supposed to be posted shortly after the election but it took a little longer than anticipated to get “just right”. Therefore, I decided to hold off posting it until today, Inauguration Day, January 21, 2013.

So, as we watch all the different activities of THIS historic day to remember, let’s take a look back at THAT historic night to remember when our president was re-elected to 4 more years in office.

Sometimes when the unexpected happens, such as the tragedy in Newtown, CT on Friday, December 14, 2012 it’s hard to cope and come to grips with your feelings. That’s where the power of music is so important, it can help you to deal with the hurt and the pain and hopefully start you on the path to recovery.

That’s what putting together this collection of songs has done for me. Maybe, if you feel like I do, it’ll do the same for you.

Most importantly though, remember, we have to SAVE THE CHILDREN…

Cupid’s Hunt 2012: Con Funk Shun-LOVE!

This year we’re going to focus on the group Con Funk Shun. They are one of my all-time favorite funk bands from back in the day. Now, while they could pump it up and funk it out as good as any group back then, they also had great harmony and could belt out some beautiful love ballads. As a matter of fact, I think their ballads and mellow tunes get overlooked quite often when folks talk about the best love songs ever made. We hope to change that with this collection songs.

If you are familiar with Con Funk Shun, you know that the group consisted of:

RIBS: We Remember Whitney Houston, R.I.P.

We lost Whitney Houston on Saturday, February 11, 2012. She was only 48 years old.

It’s always tough to hear of the passing of one of your favorite music artists. That’s when you realize how much a part of your life experiences they have been, the highs, the lows, the joys, the sorrows, the ecstasy, the agony. For many of us, Whitney was all that and more.

She burst onto the scene in the early 80’s like a shooting star, shining brightly in the night . The product of music “royalty”, her mother is singer Cissy Houston, her cousins are Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick, her godmother is Aretha Franklin, Whitney possessed beautiful looks and a fantastic voice that could do anything musically. It looked to us all like she would be with us forever and finally be the one to inherit the mantle of “Queen of Soul” once Aretha passed it along. Alas that was not meant to be.

This is just a quick compilation of some of Whitney’s ballads. With Valentine’s Day approaching I thought that it would be appropriate to spotlight some of her beautiful love songs that are so much a part of the soundtrack of our lives. It is by no means a comprehensive collection of material, you can probably expect a follow-up mix sometime in the future that will be a deeper more expansive look at her musical legacy.

Like that shooting star she lit up our nights, shining the bright light of her talent and beauty all over us. Alas, just like that same star, her light went out much too soon…

Cupid’s Hunt 2012… “The Hunt Is On!”

OK kiddies, the kickoff day for the BIG Event has finally arrived. Even though Valentine’s Day is still four days away, the Cupid’s Hunt Podcast Collaboration event starts right now… today!

I always look forward to this event and this year, our 5th consecutive year BTW, is no exception.
