Welcome to the Office of the Repealer

History and Process

The Office of Repealer was established in January 2011 by Executive Order 11-01 issued by Governor Sam Brownback. The Office accepts suggestions for repeal of statutes, regulations, and executive orders received from citizens, businesses, and government agencies. Following review of suggestions, the Office may make recommendations for repeal to the Governor. Following review of the recommendations of the Office of Repealer, the Governor may repeal executive orders and propose repeal of statutes and regulations to the Kansas Legislature.

Current Activity

During 2011 the Office received 506 suggestions through the Office of Repealer website. In addition the Office conducted 26 meetings in 24 cities throughout the State of Kansas during October and November attended by more than 250 citizens and representatives of businesses and organizations. The Office made 51 recommendations to the Governor on January 20, 2012, the Governor will propose repeal of statutes and regulations to the Kansas Legislature early in the 2012 session.
