Gary has spent the last 20 years in the IT Research and Advisory industry in a variety of roles including business development, consulting, management, marketing, research and sales, starting with META Group in 1990. Assignments followed at Giga Information Group and IDC’s Insights Group as well as a ten-year run as founding member and managing partner of the Robert Frances Group (RFG). Since early 2009 I’ve been a Principal Contributor to the Wikibon Project research community. I launched Parity Research in July 2010 to address the evolving needs of the user and vendor communities while leveraging the extended IT analyst community, advancements in online analytics, information access technologies, the growing influence of social networking and the ubiquity of information. For me the most rewarding aspect of doing business and, for that matter, living life, is helping someone out. Throughout my career, I’ve worked extensively as an advocate for IT users seeking unbiased evaluations and leverage to lower costs and reduce risk while at the same time working with vendors on alignment and go to market strategies. I especially enjoy writing user case studies, identifying trends and developing research services, solutions and techniques that empower IT buyers and solution providers to make more informed, timely decisions. Interests: Content Analytics, Content Management, Information Management, Message Archiving, Search, Unstructured Data Management, Emerging IT Research Methodologies and Jazz Music
