gSchool is an intensive, six-month training program turning novices into skilled web developers. When you graduate, you'll be ready to get an awesome job or build your own products.
If you enjoy problem solving, technology, and team work, then you’re ready to go. No programming background is necessary.

You'll be comfortable building real applications using Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5. At the halfway point of the program, we'll ask if you want to find a job after graduation...
If you want to work on your own thing, we'll set you off in the right direction with advice and connections.
If you want to get a job, we'll help. If you are eligible to work in the US, participate in 75% of our "matchmaking" activities and graduate from the program, we'll help you find an offer as a full-time developer earning at least $60K in CO or the western region within 3 months of graduation — or we'll refund 100% of your tuition. Guaranteed.
"We can’t grow without talent and taking part in the gScholar program is a unique opportunity for us to recruit developers skilled with Ruby on Rails in downtown Denver."
— Jim Greiner, COO, iTriage LLC, Champion Scholarship Sponsor
Being a developer is more than the ability to program.
You'll build complex projects including a data processing/mining system, a multi-tenant store platform, integrations with Github/Twitter/Facebook, a system of service-oriented applications, a project to support charity, and an independent mastery project. You'll build applications more advanced than many developers have ever built.
Every weekday you'll have structured sessions 9AM-4PM including full-class instruction, hands-on workshops, code reviews, and guest speakers.
You'll deliver presentations, contribute to open source, and participate in reading groups. On top of all that, you'll spend about 20 hours/week working in small groups on real projects. No moment goes to waste.
Jumpstart Lab has more experience training developers than anyone else. We created the tremendously successful Hungry Academy for LivingSocial and have been teaching programming since 2003. There are programs that are cheaper and shorter. No other program can match the expertise you'll develop here.
"Symplified is a leader in Colorado's vibrant tech community, and our growth is a direct result of having access to top talent through programs like gSchool."
— Shayne Higdon, CEO, Symplified, Champion Scholarship Sponsor
The program is $20,000 per person. Tuition includes a new Apple laptop and participation in the program — other living expenses are up to you.
We have several $5K scholarships from great partner companies which will be made available to select students. We've also setup a payment system allowing you to spread most of the cost over the next five years with a monthly payment of just $199. Combine the two and you're left with an up-front fee of $5K.
We believe in the strength of diverse communities and welcome persons of all creeds, genders, races, orientations, ages, and abilities. No programming background or other credential/diploma is required. We're interested in your passion, ability to solve hard problems, and communicate with a team. The application requires:
We expect to receive over 240 applications for the 24 spots. If you seem like a promising fit for the program, you will participate in an in-person interview in Denver or remotely over Skype.
Make it to the next round, and you’ll participate in a half-day interview process that tests your abilities and validates that you have the right commitment and character to join us.
To participate you must be onsite through the entirety of the program January through July at Galvanize's G1 building (map)
"We are competing for the best talent and we want a unique way to differentiate and attract great employees that align with our culture. Unfortunately even many computer science majors are not prepared or ready to work in a real-world development environment — gSchool is different."
— Bart Lorang, CEO & Co-Founder, FullContact
Jeff Casimir, Program Director & Lead Instructor
Jeff started Jumpstart Lab in 2009 and has trained hundreds of developers. He co-created Hungry Academy at LivingSocial in 2012 and was the lead instructor, which placed 100% of graduates into full-time development jobs.
Frank Webber, Supporting Instructor
A college teaching assistant told Frank that he was a great software developer and a terrible computer scientist. The software he writes focuses more on the user experience then the size of its Big O Notation. Years later, Frank brings expertise in testing, Ruby, Rails, and iOS -- but still emphasizes empathy for users.
Steve Klabnik, Supporting Instructor
Steve has been with Jumpstart Lab almost since the beginning, primarily teaching classes in Ruby and Rails. He frequently speaks at technology conferences, is an expert in API design, and contributes open source code regularly to Ruby, Rails, and many other tools.
