As some of you have noticed I haven’t updated TechDron in sometime. You probably began asking why? Here’s a simplified answer for you. I have been travelling around the country these past few weeks on business as my job entails me to do so. Nevertheless, I am still juggling and organizing my time.
I have spent the past few months deciding whether or not if I should create a new blog where I can share not only my technology related articles, however, my own opinions on current events, travel reports, my photos from my trips and most of all my YouTube videos! I only decided to push through with this decision the other week as having a brand like “TechDron” won’t be suitable for the additional niches and categories I will be writing about. I am sure you will agree with me too.
Nevertheless, I invite all of you to head over to WiredMash:

TechDron: A New Chapter
Posted on by Jose Farrugia

Reaching a new chapter in a book creates a sense of accomplishment, doesn’t it? Well, it’s happening here. TechDron will be transformed into a blog spewing out new posts such as photography, travel, current issues and the technology mayhem which made you all drool. It’s blog with a fusion of all these topics.
The last time I posted an article was on the last week of July. So where was I? To be simply said, I was recently hired by an international technology company who produces sleek looking laptops, innovative motherboards and tablets which will make you go gaga. Yeah, you guessed it. I am working now for ASUS Philippines. Now now, you don’t need to worry. I will still be publishing technology related articles.
So what’s in store for TechDron? Here are a few of more goals and plans for the remainder of 2012:
Work and edit on my backlog of travel videos and photographs from my recent trips in 2012 and last year – Malaysia, Taiwan, Manila and Davao
Add my rant category on traffic related issues here in the Philippines. This will include videos and posts on sloppy traffic enforcers (CITOM), misbehaving drivers and suggestions on improving the worsening traffic situation in Cebu
Publish opinionated articles on current events and issues both locally and worldwide
Render the dozen or so videos from Computex 2012 and upload at least one video a week
Hold weekly giveaways since I don’t have a place for the numerous gifts and freebies given to me
What do you guys think? Send in your suggestions or ideas below. Don’t like it, I’d still like to hear from you.
Gigabyte X11, a Carbon Fiber Ultrabook – Computex 2012

The Gigabyte X11 is the world’s first carbon-fiber ultrabook clocking a weight of only 975G (2.15 pounds). Now that’s what I call a light ultrabook. The Gigabyte is slowly inching their way into the laptop and ultrabook arena. Unfortunately, their mobile devices are mostly sold locally in Taiwan. Hopefully, this will change in due time.
Nevertheless, the Gigabyte X11 is powered by the latest Intel Core Processors (Ivy Bridge). The one which was displayed at the Intel booth features an Intel Core i7 3517 Processor clocked at 1.9GHz and 4GB of RAM. Additionally, the device comes with an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 and a 11 inch display.
With the recent announcement of the Gigabyte X11, I am hoping to see the Gigabyte mobile lineup, both Smartphones and Notebooks/Ultrabooks, to be entering the Philippine market soon.
What do you think of this ultra sleek ultrabook? Send us your comments below!
Toshiba Satellite U845W, the first 21:9 ratio Ultrabook – Computex 2012

A few of the latest upcoming ultrabooks were on display at the Intel booth at Computex 2012. During the day the ultrabooks were “abused” by hundreds of hands and fingers. I was lucky enough to try out a few of them at the end of the day when the exhibition halls were less crowded. A strange looking ultrabook caught my attention, the Toshiba Satellite U845W.
The Toshiba Satellite U845W is probably one of the first ultrabooks or even laptops to feature a 21:9 ratio display at 14.4 inches and a resolution of 1792×768 pixels. Perfect for those who want to maximize their workspace environment. Additionally, the Toshiba Satellite U845W is powered by the third generation Intel Core Processors (Ivy Bridge). The one displayed at the Intel booth was running on an 3317U i5 processor clocked at 1.7GHz and 6GB of RAM. The ultrabook also features a hybrid storage setup, a mixture of a HDD and a SSD.
Furthermore, the ultrabook has an aluminum finish with a backlit keyboard, thus, adding a professional look. The Toshiba Satellite U845W will be made available later this year and will be shipping to the US at a price tag of $999 (PHP41,000).
What do you think of the unusual display ratio? Will this soon be become a standard or is this the first and last? Send us your thoughts and comments below Drons!
Lenovo K800, the first Intel-Inside Smartphone – Computex 2012

A new Smartphone specie is born every day. This time it’s being powered by an Intel Atom processor. You heard it right, a similar processor chip that gives life to the millions of netbooks around the world. The Lenovo K800 is the first of many future Smartphones to be powered by an Intel processor.
The Lenovo K800 was announced recently and showcased over the interwebs for the past few months. It garnered a lot of buzz as it was one of the first Smartphones to be coming out with an Intel based processor from a well-known company. The Lenovo K800 packs a 1.6GHz Atom processor with 1GB of RAM, a 4.5 inch 720×1280 IPS display, a rear facing 8MP camera and a 1.3 front facing camera. Unfortunately, the Lenovo K800 only ships with an aging Gingerbread version.
Sadly we will not see the Lenovo K800 anywhere else in the world except in China, Lenovo’s own turf. Nevertheless, hopefully this will set a wave of new “Intel-Inside” Smartphones. Expect AMD to come out with their own mobile chip for Smartphones and Tablets later this year too.
Would the new Intel chip designed for mobile devices outperform Nvidia’s Tegra, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon or even Samsung’s Exynos processors? Post your thoughts below. We are itching to know what you think. Dron that comment!
