This is “Number One Son”, (a.k.a. Hippie (he used to have long hair)) of whom I write so often. Obviously that’s the only reason I’m showing you a video about a muffler but with my tiny but diverse readership it’s not inconceivable that one or two of you might find it interesting or even useful. […]
Fashionably Geek is a blog devoted to clothes that celebrate geekdom. I like the AT-AT poodle skirt. The funny thing about it is, I can see how an, ordinary, non-geeky person might think the applique is just a really badly cut poodle.
Thanks to Leeann, who linked to the Browncoat Converse sneakers.
Immediately after I wrote the last post I thought, “All I really want from the future is to live to be at least 150 and be healthy, weigh what I weighed when I was 30 and never have any more wrinkles than I have right now.” And of course for all my family to be […]
Feast your eyes. I don’t like the industrial look of the room with the spiral staircase but I’m lusting for the bookshelves in all the other pictures. The last two are my favorites.
Your productive life is over. This is all Leeann’s fault.
(I tried to save one of my “creations” so I could post it here but I ended up with nothing but a black rectangle.)
Wow. Samizdata linked to my smart-alecky little football post. That’s great. If ever I had an opinion that I wanted to share with more people than just my half-dozen fans that would be one of them. It sort of makes me wish I had written more of a rant but that’s really all I had […]
Part of me wishes that I had the legs for this. Another part of me does not want to rattle and jingle as I walk.

I do not need these but they keep calling to me. (I’m not getting them. I have never paid more than $100 for a pair of shoes but if they ever have a half off sale on them I might not be able to resist temptation.)
Tilly and the Buttons is a nice sewing blog. This […]
Busy yesterday, busy today. Might post something later but for now, just a quick embed. I don’t know why this was on There I Fixed It. This is a seriously cool chair.

Wonderful! Think of the amount of work it took to make this little two minute video!
You need this app. Trust me, you really do. It will fill all those empty moments (and hours) in your life when you’re thinking, “I should be doing something productive. Darn, what can I do to avoid having to be productive?”
One of my perennial pet peeves is finding a really beautiful mug that I “must have” but it only comes in a set of four. I don’t even have room for one more mug much less four but if I could have just one… well, maybe I could find a place for it. You know? […]
Monday I got about 10 catalogs in the mail. (I didn’t count them so by “10″ I mean somewhere between 7 and 15.) Then yesterday I got several more. I haven’t even had a chance to look at all of them yet but I’ve already seen lots of shiny things to lust after. (and I […]
(That title just came to me and I sort of liked it.)
We got a new desk chair. It’s a high-back, brown leather chair that almost looks fancier than anything that should be in my house, but it actually wasn’t expensive. This is it. I really wanted one without arms. I’m not used to them […]
I wouldn’t say I’m addicted to flashlights but for some reason I am attracted to them. I always want to look at them in the stores and in catalogs. I have three (and two of them I have because two people in my family both gave me a flashlight for Christmas one year) and I […]
These orange fashions are especially for Charles because he’s all about orange these days.
I wouldn’t wear any of those fashions, (first link) not because they’re orange but because most would be ugly in any color. Actually the third dress from the left in the first picture isn’t so bad; I just don’t like wearing […]
Normally, a trip to the dentist is the most dreaded of our regular experiences but my dentist’s office is one of the most pleasant places I go. The walls and ceilings in the back are painted the same yellow as our kitchen. Of course I don’t know if it’s exactly the same but it’s close […]
I came across Pati’s Mexican Table on one of our local public television stations recently. At first I found Pati irritating but also, somehow, vaguely fascinating. As I get used to her voice and mannerisms she is a bit less irritating than at first. More importantly, some of her recipes are interesting. Fortunately she has […]
I would almost wear these (if they weren’t so large) but I’m not into Tetris, never played it in fact. (Yes, I know. Shut up.)

If I was going to wear my favorite game dangling from my ears I would get these. Actually, I was just joking but these […]
Pretty but just a wee bit creepy. I want one.

And speaking of cat envy, last weekend the prettiest cat in the world appeared briefly on my back porch. The husband was sitting here at the computer and told me, ” Come […]
I found this adorable little whisk at Ace Hardware. Isn’t he cute?
The shelf he’s sitting on is a paper towel holder and the other two items are just things I had already that I put there just to have something sort of decorative. I might change the arrangement occasionally, put different things there.
This is a cute and clever shoe design but, alas, four inch heels. No. Just no. I can totally relate to some of Erin’s remarks on the subject of shoes - these and shoes in general.
These would be so much fun to pair with a stunt dress … you know, if I had a […]
Disturbing earrings. It is possible to freak people out without having 20 holes in each ear.
Same site, unrelated: These are pretty. I’d wear those. If it weren’t for that whole fear of falling down and making a fool of myself thing I’ve mentioned before.
