The Third Sector

Documentaries are a powerful force for change – they have a transformational quality which inspires people and organisations to ENGAGE and to ACT.

The third sector and documentary filmmakers have much in common – both want to create change around an issue they care passionately about. We are collaborating with third sector organisations to create opportunities for them to become involved in how documentaries are funded and made and to work in partnership with brilliant filmmakers.

The media landscape is changing fast and in this new world, charities, foundations, brands and companies with CSR agendas can join the content commissioners, partnering with passionate directors and producers and together forging new models for funding, distribution, outreach and participation.

Match funding

Filmmakers have the talent for story telling that can motivate change. Third sector organisations have access to the stories and the campaigning know how to create that change.

Together they can make a powerful alliance.

We have recently teamed up with the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust to fund a film around the issues of surveillance and privacy in the UK.

Brokering

The BRITDOC Foundation brokers partnerships between charities and foundations and filmmakers to create effective campaigns around groundbreaking films.

Media Conference

We ran a conference for 150 of the UK's top NGOs and Foundations to learn about how documentaries can help them in their work...

"Film is incredibly democratic and accessible, it’s probably the best option if you actually want to change the world, not just re-decorate it."
