How do you pronounce the domain name?

Ahhhh, this is a tricky one! All of the BBC reporters mentioned above would pronounce the phrase “literal barrage” as “litt-rull bear-rahj”. Four syllables, first syllable of each word emphasized. Clear?

So, uhh, what’s the deal with your site’s name?

In the spring of 2003, a U.S.-led coalition invaded Iraq and deposed Saddam Hussein. During the invasion, I frequently heard BBC reporters in Iraq constantly describe “literal barrage”s of Anglospheric firepower raining down upon the Ba’athist forces. I thought to myself “Hey, that would make a pretty good name for a barrage. It’s certainly better than Up, Up, Down, Down…”. I checked whether the domain name was available (it was), registered it and, using EveryDNS, pointed to my home box running on my DSL circuit. Et voila, Literal Barrage was born.

Who are you? What’s your story?

My name is Doug Stewart. Although I graduated from Lehigh University with a Computer Engineering degree, I’m not actively applying it on a daily basis. I work as a systems administrator/web applications developer for a Fortune 500 company in New Jersey, although I live across the Delaware River in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA. I live with my wife, son William and daughters Kathryn and Meghan – pictures of the most beautiful children ever are available here.
