I frequently get inquiries from people who’d like to use my Creative Commons-licensed music for free in their own movies, podcasts, or games. In many cases I am fine with this, provided that the project in question is strictly non-commercial and the music is being properly attributed in the credits. However, I make a point of asking to see the material in question before I give my permission. This has less to do with the quality of the work than with the fact that I don’t want my music to be associated with content that I find objectionable. So if you write to ask if it’s OK to use my music, please include a link to your work or a sufficiently refined preview thereof (e.g. by putting it as a “private” upload on a video hosting site; my YouTube account name is JanMorgenstern42), a list of the specific track(s) that you’d like to use, and preferably a brief description of what you’re planning to do with the final piece.
