Full Description

This is a two-day workshop.  By registering on this page, you also register to attend the second part on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

In this workshop, instructor KB Ng will introduce the jQuery library (an open-source JavaScript project) and AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), which greatly simplify the process of adding advanced functionality to web sites.  Participants will learn how to use these latest technologies to build pages that work across browsers with interactive functionality, from complex animation effects to dynamic page formatting.  The instructor will use a hands-on approach in the workshop starting from the most basic elements, without assuming students to have any background knowledge in JavaScript or XML.  Bring a jump drive if you'd like to keep copies of examples and exercises.

Who should attend:
System librarians, web masters, and anyone who wants to create interactive web pages.  Participants should know basic HTML, but no programming experience is required.
