PVR / DVR / TiVo – We have it all

About PurePVR

Hi there – I’m Matt and welcome to PurePVR.

I’ve been in love with the concept of a PVR ever since I heard about TiVo many years ago. Just the thought of being able to pause and rewind live TV lit up my eyes. But seeing as how I live in Canada, it was not meant to be (at least not conveniently).

Fast forward a couple of years – I rediscovered my love when I saw a TV-Tuner card on sale at the local Best Buy. I snatched it up, rushed home and built my first PVR. Since then I have tried many different software packages with many different configurations. I have finally settled on a Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (soon to be Vista) based PVR as well as a Bell ExpressVu 5900 PVR.

Having a PVR has changed the way I watch TV. I no longer sit there on the couch killing time by watching infomercials while I wait for something good to come on. Instead I can now sit there and watch television shows that I may not have otherwise been able to watch due to their inconvenient times.

The purpose of PurePVR is to have place where I can talk out loud about my love for the technology. If you, the reader, want to jump in you can do that. If you prefer to just sit back and listen, that’s fine as well.
