Bloggy Business and Share Your Awesome
I feel like I’ve been playing catch up all week, and today is no different. The first thing I want to do is give a big ole shout of thanks to some lovely blog friends.
First Fadra gave me, not one, but TWO Blogmas awards. I know. So awesome. I totally feel like I’ve made it. The first was for Blogmas Posts to Make You Feel for my post Raised Around Racism. That was a really hard post to write so I really appreciate the honor. The second was in the The Best of the Rest category for the weekly link up we all know and love, Share Your Awesome! That’s just… awesome. Be sure to visit her site and check out all of the other winners.
Now onto a little bloggy tip that I have for y’all. If you use your Google reader to follow/subscribe/read blogs you absolutely MUST do this. Today. It will change your life, and I’m not even exaggerating a little bit. Google Reader has this button under your settings called the “Next” button that you can drag up to your bookmark bar.
Why would you want to do that? Because then when you are ready to check out some blogs all you have to do is click that little “Next” button and it will bring up the next post in your reader. The bonus is that it takes you to the actual blog so that the writer gets the hits AND (even more importantly) you can comment without having to do any extra clicks.
For all of those that tuned out because it sounded all like blah, blah, blah… Stop! Go over to Angie’s post at A Whole Lot of Nothing and she has a very simple picture tutorial for you to follow. Now you have no excuse to not make your life easier. Several bloggers have written tutorials about this (I first learned about it from Scary Mommy) so if Angie’s isn’t working for you just Google “Google Reader Next Button” and you will get some other choices.
Now let’s kick off the year right by sharing our awesome!!! If you haven’t been writing because of the whole holiday break and what all and don’t feel like you have anything from the last week for just this once go ahead and link up something from the last month. Here are the rest oh the rules:
- Link up a favorite post you wrote this week.
- On the post you feature link back to my blog. Something like, “I’m sharing my awesome with Momma Made It Look Easy and you can too.” It can be in the tiniest print at the very bottom of your post. Or you can grab my “Share Your Awesome” button from the sidebar and use that.
- Link directly to your blog post and not your home page or a landing page. If you don’t know how to find the permalink just let me know and I’ll help you.
Next week I will randomly pick one participant (that hasn’t previously been featured) to feature on my blog. Please follow all of the rules. I will delete you if you don’t. And while it isn’t a requirement, it would be really great if you would check out some of the other blogs that link up, and also, comments are always great. The posts so far have been awesome and I’m sure they will be this week too.
