Update 13 December 2012: A small presence of IEO members has remained in Hargeisa following the elections. Disputes around results are currently being investigated by authorities in Somaliland. The IEO team is awaiting more news about this process before making any further statements regarding the conduct and results of the election.

The team of 50 international election observers from 18 countries observed voting at 20% of the 1,700 plus polling stations yesterday (28 November), visiting 15 of the 21 districts across Somaliland where the election took place, and followed up by witnessing station counts through the evening.

The 55-strong International Election Observer team has assembled in the capital city of Hargeisa, ready to deploy to all six Somaliland regions, where voters will turn out at more than 1,700 polling stations on November 28th.
