Location

If you are a mobile spotter that changes locations, you'll want to keep this page in mind every time you go into the field. The Location dialog box looks like the image below.

There are three different options in this dialog box.
  • Select a WFO
The National Weather Service has over 100 offices in the country. Each office has different areas of responsibility. You can find a map of these areas here. Pick the appropriate WFO. Do not be concern about the three letter ID that appears next to the WFO location.
  • Select a County
Selecting the correct county if very important to accurately receive your report. Do not be concerned about the three digit code that appears next to the county and state.
  • Enter a City or Location
Enter the city where you are located. If you are outside a city, use the distance from that city. For example, 14SW Rapid City. This means 14 miles southwest of Rapid City. You could also use County Dispatch, Emergency Managers Office, or other appropriate location that applies to the agency you are associated with.

When you have made the correct selections, click on the "Change Location" button.
