IEEE VR 2011 Overview

IEEE Virtual Reality is one of the most prestigious international conferences and exhibitions on virtual reality. It will come to Singapore in 2011, first time in its history!
IEEE Virtual Reality 2011 (VR2011) will be held on 19 – 23 March 2011 (19 –20 for symposiums/workshops/tutorials, 21 – 23 for main conference) at SUNTEC Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Center, Singapore.

The conference focuses recent research and development in the fields of virtual environments, augmented reality, 3D user interface, etc. Researchers and practitioners actively working in VR area will get together to discuss the recent research/technology developments and trends. We invite you to submit your works, show your products, and join for the fascinating week of presentations, exhibits, workshops, and special events.

Conference topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Immersive gaming
  • 3D interaction for VR
  • VR systems and toolkits
  • Augmented and mixed reality
  • Computer graphics techniques
  • Advanced display and immersive projection technology
  • Multi-user and Distributed VR and gaming
  • Serious Games
  • Haptics, audio, and other non-visual interfaces
  • Tracking & Sensing
  • Modeling and Simulation
  • User studies and evaluation
  • Presence and cognition
  • Applications of AR/MR/VR

Singapore is one of the most advanced and modernized cities in Asia. In academic area Singapore is home to two of the world’s top-ranking institutes of higher learning; National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). For industry the huge presence of leading hardware, software, IT services and internet companies in Singapore creates significant synergies and provides fertile ground for collaboration. Therefore both for researchers and practitioners VR2011 will provide a good chance to visit Singapore, watch the recent activities and achievements in VR and related areas in Singapore and also in Asian countries.

IEEE VR 2011 is pleased to be co-located with the IEEE Symposium on 3D User Interfaces, which will be held on 19 – 20 March with other events such as the VR Tutorials and Workshops. Also as a special event, the Special Symposium focusing the recent research/application innovation, called International Symposium on VR innovation (ISVRI) is planned to be held on 19 – 20 March.
