Apply For Dual Credit

Application and Registration

  • Instructions and Checklist for Dual Credit Registration

 

1. APPLY ONLINE to Northern

2. Meet with your High School Counselor

  • Review the current class schedule to select a course to take for Dual Credit.
  • Classes for dual credit must be college level (not remedial or developmental) and for a
    degree or certificate. Fitness classes may not be taken for dual credit.
  • If the class you want to take doesn’t have a prerequisite, skip to step 4.

3. Take our placement test

  • If the class you want to take has a Math or English prerequisite you will need ACT or
    placement test  scores.
  • Bring or mail your official ACT scores to the Northern’s Admissions Office and SKIP
    taking the placement test OR
  • STUDY/PRACTICE for the Compass Placement Test at www.testpreview.com and
    www.freerice.com
  • Take our placement test. The test is free the first time you take it, and $10 each time you retest.
  • Call Testing Center at 505.747.2199 for details.

4. Fill out the Dual Credit Request Form

  • Obtain a Dual Credit Request Form online, from your high school counselor, or from the
    Dual Credit Office.
  • For help interpreting your test scores, completing the form, or choosing an appropriate
    class, meet with your high school counselor or contact Crestina Manzanares at 505.747.2163.
  • Late/online registration is not yet available for  high school students.

5. Submit completed forms

  • Forms can be brought to the Dual Credit office in person or submitted by mail or fax:

What to do after registering

  • Print out your schedule. click on My NNMC. Use your PIN and Password to log
    on to Banner. For help with this call admissions at 505.747.2111.
  • Get your Student ID. Take a copy of your schedule to the Student Lounge.
  • Get your books at the bookstore.You need your Student ID and a copy of your schedule to get
    your book without charge.
  • Pay lab and media fees (if applicable) at the Cashier’s window (505.747.2131).
  • Contact Lydia Rivera at 505.747.2137 if you feel there is an error or have questions about your bill.
  • If you are taking an Online/Distance Learning class, sign up online to attend a Blackboard Orientation at nnmc.blackboard.com. Call Peter Snyder (505.747.5418) with questions regarding log-on procedures for online classes.
  • Find your class and follow the NNMC academic calendar for holidays and deadlines, not yourhigh school’s calendar.
  • ASK QUESTIONS! Contact Michelle Berté at 505.747.2163 with any questions. Get to know your instructor and his or her contact information.
  • IMPORTANT! How to drop or withdraw from a dual credit class.
    • You must fill out the Request to Drop or Withdraw Form and submit it to Northern New Mexico College before the drop add deadline.
    • See the current academic calendar for deadlines.
  • DID YOU KNOW…when you register for a dual credit class you are entitled to use the following resources available to college students…all for free!
    • Access to basketball games
    • Student Sucess Center
    • Tutoring
    • Writing Center
    • Library
