The major disadvantages of amplitude modulation is that it is easily affected by atmospheric noise, other electrical signals and interference from electrical motors and generators. Practically, various types of atmospheric and other electrical disturbances are also reproduced in the amplitude modulation receivers. Hence, AM receiver can not distinguish between amplitude variations that represent the noise and those that contain the desired signal. Therefore, the reception is generally noisy.

Many a times I wonder that how the IC 555 works differently. Is it its manufacturing fault? Or the internal circuit problem? Or the basic designing problem, itself?

How LVDT works? Basic concept of linear variable differential transformer

LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) is a passive transducer. It measures force in terms of displacement of ferromagnetic core of a transformer. It is based on the principle of magnetic induction. It consists of a primary winding and two secondary windings, which are placed on both sides of the core. The two secondaries (Sec1 & Sec2) have equal number of turns but they are connected in series opposition. Due to this connection, the e.m.f. induced in one coil opposes the e.m.f. induced in second coil and thus we get the difference of voltages at the output of LVDT.

How a photo emissive cell works? Understanding its basic theoretical concepts

If the wavelength of the incident radiation is greater than threshold wavelength, then there will be no electrons emission. The threshold wavelength of general purpose photo-emissive cells is generally between 625nm to 1240nm. The material of which the cathode is made must have a low value of work function. It is generally found that some alkali metals, which have low value of threshold wavelength, are used for construction of cathodes.

Fundamental concept of a constant current source

The concept of a constant current source is very simple. Consider a general purpose rectifier diode. Suppose it is connected across a battery of say 12V, through a current limiting resistor. Then naturally the diode will be forward biased. Now the voltage drop across the diode will be just 0.7V, which is the potential barrier voltage of that diode. This voltage remains fixed irrespective of change in current through that diode.
