The World Journalism Education Council is an informal coalition representing 32 academic associations worldwide that are involved in journalism and mass communication at the university level. By bringing organizations from six continents together, the Council hopes to provide a common space for journalism educators from around the world and to focus on issues that are universal in the field.
The third World Journalism Education Congress will be held July 3-5, 2013 in Mechelen, Belgium. The European Journalism Training Association and the Flemish/Dutch Network of Journalism Institutes are hosting the Congress
The World Journalism Education Census identifies journalism education programs around the world and collects information about how those programs teach journalism and mass communication. Information on more than 2,300 programs has been collected so far.
More than 400 journalism and mass communication educators from more than 50 countries attended the second World Journalism Education Congress July 4-7 at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa.
The World Journalism Education Census was funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The "Issues in Journalism Education" video series was funded by the Ethics & Excellence in Journalism Foundation.
