2012 ANNUAL REVIEW: In a year of major stories—elections, Olympics, storms, tragic shootings—Hearst publications once again provided stellar reporting, dedicating themselves to round-the-clock breaking news coverage and important investigative endeavors. The company upgraded technology and refocused its papers, created popular special sections to better serve readers—and attract new advertisers—and added new digital products, like San Francisco’s twice-weekly 49ers digital magazine.
