Dish Chairmain: We Bought Blockbuster to Get Into Wireless

MovieQ Rental Chain to Expand

This small rental chain blends the experience of Redbox and Blockbuster with stores that are manned by only one employee and feature eight self-serve kiosks that enable customers to browse and rent thousands of movies and video games. Business is good enough that the chain is expanding to two more locations.

Redbox Hits 45 Percent Market Share, Will Expand Kiosk Capacity

spacer Despite a gloomy recent financial report from its parent company, Coinstar, Redbox has had some positive news lately. The kiosk renter closed out 2012 with a 45 percent share of the movie disc rental market, which is more than double the market share of by-mail and online disc renters. Many Redbox kiosks will also be increasing their disc capacities by about 80 discs this year.

Coinstar Shares Tumble on Weak Q4 Results

Netflix’s Hastings to Keep Posting on Facebook
