We have been working hard on a few new blogging series for this season – one of them is all about cakes! I could not be more excited to see these creative and easy ideas that I’ve been dreaming up actually come to life. Look for the first one later this week. In the meantime, here is some major party cake inspiration. 25 party cakes that are attainable (you could totally make them!) and so pretty to look at:

This is the week that flowers start their season, from red roses for Valentines - through peonies in May. It is the time of year when everything floral feels fresh and pretty. Make a bouquet that will last the whole season long with coordinating shades of your favorite fabric. Use the flowers lined on a string as garland, spread about the table as simple confetti, stitched to a thick ribbon as a bracelet, or put together in succession to spell out whatever your sentiment might be.
These simple floral bunches require no sewing skills beyond a simple hand stitch or two (you could even use glue), making them a simple and easy project to begin a season worth celebrating.
To make the no sew fabric flowers begin with a 3 inch square of fabric…

Valentine’s Day is less than a week away, which has me feeling all lovey dovey. And, if that wasn’t enough, yesterday Matt landed himself in the ER with some scary medical symptoms. It has left me feeling especially fond of him this week. So fond, I’d like to have him home right now and cook him a thick, juicy steak.
There is no floral comparison for a guy that gives the same punch as a bunch of herbs and a juicy slab of meat. Show your man you care by handing him a simple bouquet of herbs, along with the promise of his favorite cooked meal, next Thursday (or any day you remember how awesome he is!).

Say hooray with a new take on the always loved party bunting. Using colorful felt, a sharpie and a bit of tracing skill you can say hooray, hurrah or happy birthday in a festive and graphic way.
To make the hooray banner use a piece of paper size felt for each letter and cut out triangle shapes in varying sizes. Print out the hand letter hooray template right here. Using a thick black marker and tracing paper, trace the hand font letters onto your banner. Fill in as needed with the sharpie. Attach the banner with glue to a length of ribbon.
I love the look of the banner done sideways and vertical, but you could easily trace the letters for a more traditional horizontal banner hanging.
Here’s the rest of the hand font series.
Collaboration for this project was done with my friend Brody, who is an amazing hand font illustrator. Photography done for A Subtle Revelry by Erin Holland.

Telling your guy just how you feel is as simple as a making a batch of his most favorite cookies! Show him how much you care by baking cookies in a metal (not plastic) gingerbread cookie cutter, with a hand written tag telling him what a perfect guy he is.
Place your cookie cutter on a baking sheet and fill with cookie dough. Bake according to recipe instructions and remove the cookie man carefully once cooled.
