We're sorry to be stuffy and give you some terms and conditions. The main thing on our mind is we don't want anyone to copy socialmediasurgery.com, what it does, or how it does it. This is easy and shouldn't get in your way. If you use this website you are agreeing to our rules. If you don't agree to them, please don't use the website.
This website is a place created by Podnosh for people to publicise, manage and monitor their own social media surgeries.
Your surgery manager is a good person and we don't expect them to do anything besides very social things. If you have a question about a surgery your first port of call is your surgery manager – after all it's their surgery, not ours.
If you have a problem with your surgery manager please contact us.
This website is made by the people at Podnosh in Birmingham, UK.
We care about the "Social Media Surgery Plus" name and logo, the website's look and feel, our software code and scripts, and our social computing techniques and how we apply them to monitoring help given at social media surgeries. All these things are unique to Podnosh and are our property. You can use them only as follows:
You can use this site for free to publicise and manage one social media surgery to support local community groups, voluntary organisations, active citizens or charities.
If you want to use this site to run several surgeries – and monitor the help given and online activity as a result of sites created or assisted with at your surgeries – contact us.
You can cancel your account at any time via your dashboard. This will remove any information we hold about you in the website.
Got a question about this event? Please contact Steven Flower using this form
Social media surgeries are informal drop-in sessions where anyone from the voluntary and community sector can come and pick the brains of our 'surgeons' (helpful volunteers who understand the world of Twitter, Facebook and the rest).
Speak to experts and get tips and practical advice about how social media could help your organisation.
Whether you're flummoxed by Facebook, can't work out what everyone's Twittering about, or have fallen off a blog, there'll be someone here who can explain things, show you how to get started, unstick you if you've got stuck, or just help you think through why you might use any of these social media tools in the first place.
It's completely free, there's tea and coffee on tap, and you can have a conversation rather than being stuck in a classroom.
hulmesms is kindly hosted in the cafe at Z-Arts. Z-arts is Manchester's primary venue for children and families covering all art forms and creative activities..
People helping at the surgery are all volunteers giving up their time.
By all means! If you'd like to help, just sign up and we will be in touch.
All our surgeons are volunteers giving up their time for nothing, and as such, most are unable to offer further unpaid support outside of the surgeries.
But that's exactly why the surgeries are held every month. You're most welcome to come back again and again, as often as you need to - or to bring along colleagues if you need to spread the social media goodness around your organisation...
Kate and Steven (two volunteers) have collected some pictures and stories about Social Media Surgeries.
