From The UK Hackspace Foundation
Jump to: navigation, search

The UK Hackspace Foundation is a non-profit, community organisation dedicated to coordinating hackerspaces in the UK.

Hackerspaces are physical places where people can meet to learn, socialise and collaborate on projects.

There is a rich tradition of hackerspaces worldwide, including Noisebridge in San Francisco, Metalab in Vienna, C-Base in Berlin, and NYC Resistor in New York. The Hackspace Foundation was formed in January 2009 in response to the lack of hacker spaces in the UK. Since then, we've helped groups in more than six cities start creating their own spaces.

Currently we know of the following spaces:

  • Potteries Hackspace
  • London Hackspace
  • fizzPOP (Birmingham)
  • DoES Liverpool
  • North West Hackspace (North West Hackspace Updates)
  • Leeds Hackspace
  • Bristol Hackspace
  • SoutHACKton (Southampton)
  • York Hackspace
  • HACMan (Manchester)
  • Build Brighton Hackspace
  • E-Space (Exeter)
  • Shropshire Hackspace
  • Madlab (Manchester)
  • Nottingham Hackspace
  • Reading Hackspace
  • Deckspace (London)
  • Makespace (Cambridge)
  • Edinburgh Hacklab (Edinburgh)
  • Derby Makers (Derby)
  • MakerSpace (Newcastle upon Tyne)
  • NortHACKton (Northampton)
  • Chelmsford Makerspace
  • Surrey and Hampshire Hackspace
  • The Dorset Constructorium (Bournemouth/Poole)

If you're thinking of starting a hackerspace in the UK, we can help you.
