STATE OF THE BLOGOSPHERE
Via Loïc Le Meur, I see that Technorati’s David Sifrey has posted his latest report on where the on-line world is heading. Lots of data and graphs to digest:Interesting to see how much blogging goes on during work hours! No

France still lives in the times of Marie Antoinette. No longer does France draw the Travel Market it once did. It is no longer Number #1 draw. Even the Japanese who admire from afar the French ‘mystique’ arrive only to find out the French ‘mistake’ As to language, well time to give it up. Francophone just isn’t Manderin or any number of the ethnic mix that now over shadows French even in France. Time to realize France is a no show for many on the score card of International Travel or interest.

Without even arguing about any presupposed “importance” of French whatsoever, I strongly suspect a dirty little secret of Technorati: its incapacity to autodetect languages. After the blunder of the latest “top 100 French blogs” from technorati/edelmann — which is frankly innacurate — I discovered that I had to manually declare the language of my blog to Technorati. I’d love to see a little bit more clarity from Dave Sifry about the methods he uses to get those numbers (and assumptions) out. So far, you have to read between the lines and make your own mind about the Technorati prism vs reality.

hey Italian friends there was nothing to be understood here about me and Italy, I love Italy ! I was just surprised and I agree with Padawan, I think Technorati does not manage languages very well.
I’m a stats addict, and though I said I gave up on Technorati I continue to check out the link count on my blog textually.org. It is such wonderful and useful service, enabling bloggers to measure their popularit…

The Technorati prism vs reality
Technorati is a great source for information, trends and numbers about the blogosphere. But one has to take figures coming…
