Through IIT Online, Illinois Institute of Technology offers distance learning students a wide array of programs and courses from almost every college, center, and institute at the university.
There are no IIT Online students at IIT. There are only IIT students who take their courses and programs online.
There is no distinction between the distance or online student and the on-campus student – both take the same courses from the same world-class faculty and earn the same well-respected degrees. And all students use the same course space in Blackboard 9.1, our learning management system.
Most of our online programs are designed for graduate students, but all students – degree seeking or non-degree seeking, credit or non-credit – will discover a distance learning option to meet their educational needs or career goals. Students will discover that IIT Online delivers.

Illinois Institute of Technology has a long tradition as a pioneer in distance education. IIT was one of the first to serve students with televised course delivery. Using microwave EBS channels, IITV, as we were then known, entered the world of distance education by delivering live course lectures to students at remote locations across the Chicago area.
Then we started delivering lectures over a little thing called the Internet. Soon, IIT Online was born and expanded the ability of IIT to deliver content to students around the world. IIT Online proudly continues its strong tradition and is a strong partner with faculty and departments across the university to explore new ways to deliver the distinct IIT educational experience to our students.
