The purpose of this “Privacy Policy” is to advise users of the general terms and conditions governing the collection and treatment of personal data through this Web Site, www.imdea.org/. IMDEA -Instituto Madrileño de Estudios Avanzados- intends to be the new institutional framework in the Madrid Community region that combines public and private support to science, and steers research towards what the market demands, encouraging the private sector to take part in the design of science. Also, IMDEA currently runs 7 institutes, differentiated according to their scientific specialization areas: AGUA, ALIMENTACIÓN, ENERGÍA, MATERIALES, NANOCIENCIA, NETWORKS y SOFTWARE.
IMDEA will keep all Web Site users informed of the terms of use and treatment of the personal data collected through the Web Site, either through a general information that will be made available in this Privacy Policy statement, or by way of the specific forms where personal data are collected, which will be used to provide detailed information about the intended purpose and treatment of the data in each particular case.

General Information and Purpose
We hereby inform you that, pursuant to Organic Law 15/1999, dated 13th December, on Protection of Personal Data, the data collected through this Web Site will become part of an automated file held under the responsibility of the Institute your personal data are addressed to and where they are treated, operating as a separate functional entity, and the user will be informed about it in advance.
The purpose for which the data are collected is the promotion of top-quality research, the creation of specialized work groups, and the specific activities of each Institute. The data collected may be transferred across different Institutes when strictly necessary.
In order to exercise the rights -access, rectification and cancellation – granted by the regulation in force, IMDEA has placed at the disposal of those affected a single temporary contact address that they may use to assert their inherent rights, by sending a reasoned letter – preferably via registered mail – detailing the Institute before which they are exercising their rights, their identification data and a documentary proof of identity – DNI or passport – and an address for notification purposes.

Taking into account the variety of international origins of the Web Site users, IMDEA allows those affected the possibility to submit their communications related to confidentiality and data protection to the e-mail addresses of the different institutes, making express reference to “Data Protection”.
