    April Fool...
    April 2, 2006 by Kurgan

Yep, sorry folks, the news post below was a simple April Fool's prank, and such an easy one too, it was probably too obvious, but worth it just the same. Hopefully it brought a few smiles to brighten your day.

Now that doesn't mean there won't be a sequel to Republic Commando, just that this "report" was made up as was the "source." If there's ever some real news, you'll hear about it from us, sure enough. Enjoy! ;)

    Republic Commando 2
    April 1, 2006 by Kurgan

With E3, the annual electronic entertainment expo little more than a month away, already advance reports have come in of an exciting new title that many fans have long waited for. Yes, finally, what is tentatively being called 'Republic Commando 2' (working title) will be revealed at the convention. Apparently the new game will not be an expansion but a full sequel, and use a modified version of Unreal tech rather than a new engine, but we have been assured that it will take advantage of advancements such as more realistic physics, cheat protection and admin features as well as expanded multiplayer game modes.

We could get little detailed information, but apparently the storyline will pick up where the first game left off, and a character previously thought to have died in the first game will make a reapperance. A new feature was mentioned, that of a "trophy collection system" that will be implemented in single and multiplayer campaigns. As in the first game, you will be able to play as Trandoshans, but this time around, you can recruit them into your team. It is unknown if this refers to single player only, or multiplayer as well (and how it will be implemented).

LucasArts will be developing the title along with members of the original Republic Commando team, and the title will be for the PC. A port to the next generation Xbox 360 was also hinted at.

Will the new game feature drivable vehicles and AI bots in multiplayer? These elements were sorely missing from the first game and are expected nowadays in modern FPS games, so hopefully LucasArts is listening! We can only hope. Hopefully as E3 draws closer more information will be forthcoming. Look for further updates on this later in the day!

A big thanks to GreenHarvest who contributed to this report!

    Looking for RC Maps?
    October 6, 2005 by Kurgan

Perhaps you've been wondering what's been going on in the "modder" scene after the patch and mod tools were released in one update from LucasArts?

Wonder no longer! There's a site out there that has a nice long list of downloadable addon maps for your gaming pleasure!

    The appropriately named
Republic Commando Mod Site includes a link to FileFront, where a mysterious person named arramus has uploaded 88 maps! While many of these are duplicates for use in different game modes, the result is the same.. dozens and dozens of new arenas to frag or capture the flag in.

Drill Sargeant Kurgan says: ***ATTENTION TROOPERS***

It is my solem duty to inform you, that while we, the Defenders of Freedom in the Galaxy, have sweated and bled in service for our Beloved Republic, in our midst there was seething the odious spectre of Treason!

    We're Back!
    June 2, 2005 by Kurgan

After a brief outage due to an expired domain, the site had some problems, but we're back now, and apologize for any inconvenience.

Obviously, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the last Star Wars film ever, is out in theaters now and has been smashing box office records left and right. Congrats to Lucas & Co!

The forums are down, but should be back up in the next day or so with our new server, and JediKnight.Net has undergone a site revamp with a new focus on general Star Wars Gaming news (in addition to focus on the Dark Forces series as always). You will find news about E3 coverage and other exciting events there!

Thanks for your patience as we undergo this process of cleanup and renewal.

As most will be aware, two Official Trailers have been released, as well as lots of merchandise already in stores (with more to come). It's going to be a big party for fans as they await the last new big screen adventure of the Saga from the mind of George Lucas and his creative teams at Lucasfilm.

You can discuss the upcoming movie in our forums in two flavors:

    *NO Spoilers Allowed*

    *Spoilers Allowed*(and encouraged!)

See the Official Star Wars site for official info and spoilers. Thanks to them for the poster art!

Drill Sgt. Kurgan says: "Hoorah! I love a good war movie. I can't wait to see our Patriotic Troops steamroll over the enemies of our Glorious Republic. This is a film that all our good soldiers should watch with pride!"

    Boot Camp Updates
    April 17, 2005 by Kurgan

Well troopers, you've had some time now to train and get familiar with the combat you'll be encountering in the Grand Army of the Republic. And we've had some time to update our information a bit. It may not seem like much now, but in the future we've got some advanced training information planned. I have a feeling we'll have lots of new recruites coming soon, and you'll need to share your knowledge with the next generation!

Head on over to Boot Camp and check out the RC strategy updates. More hopefully in the coming month before the new movie!

    Republic Commando Patch 1.0
    April 7, 2005 by Kurgan

Two days ago the first RC patch for the PC was released!

Here's the info from the official site:

    For PC: 1.0 update

    Patch Name: RepComm1_00.exe

    Platform: PC

Format: CD-ROM NOTE: The patch is a downloadable exe.

    Size: 2.85 MB (2,998,909 bytes)

    Min. Requirements: N/A

    Posted: 04/05/05

Installation: This is a self extracting exe. Double-clicking on this file installs the patch.

    This update addresses the following:

    --------------------------
    NEW CONTENT AND FEATURES
    --------------------------

Adds an additional Multiplayer map, Hangar. This map is suitable for up to 16 players and can be played in all supported multiplayer modes (Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Assault). This level features multiple pathways throughout the level, including an area of Zero Gravity outside the ship.

NOTE: Players who do not have this map installed will not be able to join a server that has Hangar as the currently loaded map. If these players attempt to join such a server they will be returned to the Multiplayer menu.

Another map to fight in, 'bout time says I! (though many of us were hoping for some bug fixes for MP, which the page says nothing about)

As many of you may remember, the "Hangar" map was featured in several preview videos of the game but nixed from the commercially released version of the game.

It also appears an early version of UnrealEd (the level editor) is included with this patch. I haven't tried it myself, but this should be good news for would be map makers out there!

    Download the file from:

    • LucasArts.com support page
    • 3DGamers.com
    • FilePlanet
    • FileFront
