Bio

Dr Justin Marshall is Associate Professor of Digital Craft at University College Falmouth. He is a practicing maker and researcher with a diverse training in range of visual art and design disciplines, culminating in a PhD focused on the significance of digital tools in craft practice completed in 2000.

For over ten years his research has been investigating the integration of digital design and production technologies into both art and craft practices. Alongside a personal practice focused on the new aesthetic possibilities that the use of digital tools hold, he is interested in how the digital manufacturing revolution, aligned with web 2.0 capabilities, can enable ‘user’ participation in a design process to create individualized products and rekindle people’s urge to ‘make’, so creating the possibility to refigure the relationship between consumers and producers.
