826DC Interviews 2012 Caine Prize Winner, Rotimi Babatunde

spacer Rashawnda Wiliams, 826DC’s Young Writer-in-Residence, Interviews Rotimi Babatunde, a Nigerian writer, poet, and playwright. Babatunde was the recipient of the prestigious literary award, The Caine Prize for African Writing for his short story “Bombay’s Republic.” The Caine Prize comes with the opportunity to take up a month-long residency at Georgetown University’s Lannan Center for Poetics and Social Practice. His published work are in journals and anthologies around the world, which include Die Aussenseite des Elementes, Fiction on the Web, Little Drops, and A Volcano of Voices. His plays have been staged and presented by Halcyon Theatre, Chicago; the Swedish National Touring Theatre; and the Royal Court Theatre in London. Currently, he is working on a novel about migration, choice and love.
