Designer – Marketing & Communications

The Pitch

Practically Green is growing rapidly, and we’re looking to expand our design team so we can deliver on our mission to help people live healthier and greener lives. We have built an elegant, beautifully-designed white-label SAAS platform that’s currently shaking up the Fortune 500.

Us

We’re a team of smart, committed, and collaborative people who believe that helping people live healthier and greener is a worthwhile cause — and an attractive business opportunity. We have a great sales team, and happy, paying customers. We believe the best way to grow is to hire really good people and give them what they need to execute.

You

You’re a doer. You love crafting beautiful visuals and value clear communication. You have experience within the realms of branding, print, and the web. You can spot the difference between Arial and Helvetica 100% of the time. You care about kerning your type just right as much as the message itself. You know the rules, but you’re unafraid of breaking the left margin. You believe in green, and in helping people improve their lives. You are interesting, highly creative, and are fun to spend time with. You read carefully, so put karate monkey in the subject of your email. The right candidate will have an impressive portfolio that demonstrates their mastery of color, composition and typography.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll join our design team to own our branding and communication efforts. You’ll work closely with our marketing and sales teams to design beautiful landing pages, sales presentations, and various print and online deliverables. Experience with Illustrator, Photoshop, the Office suite, HTML, and CSS is a must. Experience with branding and copywriting is a huge bonus.

Please send a note to Fabian Perez, Director of User Experience (fabian@) with your résumé, link to your portfolio, sites you’ve worked on, and how you may be going green in your own life.

Compensation

Salary, benefits and equity commensurate with experience.

Practically Green Interns

Practically Green is growing rapidly, and we depend on competent, can-do interns so we can deliver on our mission to help people live healthier and greener lives. Our digital platform motivates people to take smart, efficient actions in their everyday lives. Practically Green’s primary business focus is on selling, configuring, and optimizing this suite of apps for a growing customer base of major corporations and other organizations. PG interns support this effort in numerous important ways.

We believe that helping people live healthier and greener is a worthwhile cause — and an attractive business opportunity. We have a great sales team, and happy, paying customers. We believe that bright undergraduate and grad-student interns are essential to our start-up. We work with a number of colleges and universities to provide credit for Practically Green work and view our intern program as a best-in-class training program for those who are considering a career in sustainability. These positions are unpaid, require a commitment of 20+ hours per week in the office, and position the student for full-time employment.

We currently are accepting applications for a Sales & Marketing intern and a Social Media & Communications intern for Summer 2013.

We’re looking for doers. You should have experience working on a team to accomplish projects and get results. You have the ability to write short copy, e.g. customer service emails, promotion blurbs, Facebook posts, and tweets. You should be very comfortable taking notes and producing reports, preferably with fluency in Excel and Powerpoint. You love hunting down info on the internet. You are comfortable owning a project from start to finish without being managed, and you are not shy about asking for help when direction is unclear. You believe in green, and in helping people improve their lives. You are interesting, love to work, and are fun to spend time with. You read carefully, so put pancake bunny in the subject of your email. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, wide-ranging reading and viewing habits, keen interest in popular culture and the benefits of sustainability for businesses and enterprises of all types. High energy and a willingness and excitement to learn and pitch in is essential!

Please send a note to Sarah Finnie Robinson, Founding Partner & Head of Social (sarah@) with your resume and any supporting materials including how you may be going green in your own life.
