BS (Banaras Bunkar Samiti) is a self help group based federation established with the facilitation of Human Welfare Association, Varanasi for the socio-economic empowerment of handloom weavers at Varanasi rural area.
BBS has its own coordination office at Pandeypur Rural Mart, Pandeypur, Varanasi. Presently total 110 self help groups scattered in 85 villages of Chiraigaon and Cholapur developmental blocks are associated with BBS having membership of 2050. These self help groups are further linked to 8 clusters based on the Geographical area basis. BBS is registered under Geographical Indication for the Banaras Sarees and Brocades.
Objective
- Community Information Centers is base of Rural development program facilitated by Human Welfare Association, Varanasi.
- This is regularly observed that the poor and marginalized rural communities are day by day depriving from the benefits of government development programs.
- The government programs have become synonymic to the powerful & politicians where mostly middleman plays important role in delivering government programme’s benefits to the people.
- The poor widow of village, just keep on rounding with the application, poor and marginal villagers do not get the benefit of government housing schemes as they are unable to pay the bribes.
- The actual beneficiary don’t know about the implications of the government scheme, availability of application form, rightly filling of forms, time limits and a lot of other formalities that’s why they have to depend on middleman.
