Aguilera Vineyard
Aguilera is Spanish for eagle, and the Petite Sirah fruit from this vineyard produces wines that soar. This estate vineyard is named for Margarito Aguilera. Margarito has lived on and tended to this vineyard for over 40 years. Recently, Margarito began working in the cellar with winemaker Antoine Favero, and has proven to be an excellent winemaker-in-training.
The Aguilera vineyard soil is classified as Mollisol containing abundant organic matter in the topsoil and subsurface layers. Both drainage and heat retention in this soil type are outstanding. The vines produce highly intense fruit that translates to extracted fruit-forward flavors in the wine.
