  2. Why do you spell "Traveller" with two "l's" instead of one?

    Ah, are you from the U.S.? We're based in Europe where the U.K. spelling is the one we've followed, rather than the American usage.

  3. Why would using this make my life better?

    The main purpose, as noted above, is to keep in better touch with friends and colleagues as we travel the globe. Dopplr also helps you to explore the cities you travel to and get recommendations from your own fellows and from other experienced Dopplr travellers.

  4. Dopplr? Is that name supposed to mean something?

    Yes. It's named after Christian Doppler, the 19th Century Austrian scientist who came up with the hypothesis for what became known as the Doppler effect. That's something we've all experienced when an emergency vehicle goes by with its siren on. The siren's pitch is higher before it gets to you, and the pitch drops as it passes. You may also have heard of Doppler Radar--a method that weather forecasters use to measure the direction and velocity of storms.

  5. What is Dopplr?

    Dopplr is an online service for smarter travel.

    Dopplr helps you make more of your travels by sharing your future trips privately with friends and colleagues. The service then highlights coincidences, for example, telling you that three people you know will be in Tokyo when you will be there too. You can use Dopplr on your personal computer or mobile phone. It links with many popular online calendars and social networks.

    Dopplr also offers you the Social Atlas, helping you make travel plans around the world. Social Atlas is the source of interesting places to stay, eat and explore in the cities of the world, provided by the Dopplr network of intelligent travelers.
