In Memoriam: The recent dealths of Izabela Spiewak (on 2/6) and Richard Luby (on 1/29) robbed the Triangle of two of our most distinguished violinists and teachers. Among the concerts being given in Spiewak's memory was an "East Meets West" program in Meymandi Concert Hall on 2/17, featuring members of the National Chinese Traditional Orchestra with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra (for details. click here); a memorial service will be held at Raleigh Moravian Church on 2/23 (for details, click here). Meanwhile, a fund has been established at UNC in Luby's memory (details are at the end of the obit published 2/17 by the N&O; click here); and among the concerts being given in his memory is one in Hill Hall on 2/26, featuring the UNC Symphony Orchestra (for details, click here).
