Not satisfied with the answer, the passerby asked a second worker the same question. “We’re putting up a wall,” he replied without looking up from his work.
The passerby asked a third worker the same question. The workman put down his tools, wiped his forehead and pointed up to the top of the scaffolding. With a big smile he answered, “We’re building a cathedral.”
Three men all doing the same job but one was hauling rocks, one was putting up a wall, and one was building a cathedral! One vital way we can be “building a cathedral” for Christ is by doing all we can to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ—the only hope for our sin-sick world.
Furthermore, never has there been an opportunity, since Jesus commissioned his followers “to go into all the world and preach the Good News [the gospel] to everyone everywhere” (Mark 16:15, TLB), as there is today to reach so many people worldwide with the saving gospel of Jesus Christ, especially via the electronic media that God has given to His people today.
This, of course, is the purpose of ACTS as, with your help, together we are building a cathedral of lives—lives won to Jesus Christ for all eternity. We continually praise God that we are seeing people from around the world making decisions for Jesus Christ—every day of the year—via the ACTS websites plus the Daily and Weekend Encounters (which combined have 395,720 worldwide subscribers), and year to date we have recorded 319 decisions for Christ. I never cease to be amazed at this remarkable means to reach people for Jesus.
Not only are people accepting Jesus as their Savior, but many are re-dedicating their lives to Jesus and, along with new Christians, are being ministered to. Following are a few of the responses received from those who are being helped.
H.B. wrote, “Thank you so much for the Daily Encounter, ‘The Tyranny of the
Urgent.’ I cannot tell you how often the Encounter seems written specifically addressing a concern, problem, or puzzle I’m facing at that very time! This one certainly did come at
a time I’ve felt completely buried trying to put my home back to after the holiday season, plus other issues and pressures. I stopped right then and prayed the suggested prayer, and felt the immediate peace that the Holy Spirit brings. You are a blessing to all who follow your ministry. Again, thank you!”
Rev. P.E. said, “Daily Encounter is truly a blessing. I love the topical issues that are being treated daily. I am glad to have subscribed to Daily Encounter. Thank you.”
Judi G. shared, “Thank you so much for this Daily Encounter. I will use it with my grandchildren as a good teaching aid. Your articles hit close to home so many times and help me to put today’s trials in perspective, and I thank you for that.”
So, dear friend, know that your support is what helps make all of ACTS outreach ministries possible and is being invested in lives for all eternity—and is cathedral building for God’s glory.
Your prayers and financial support again this month are vital to keep ACTS on the front line of gospel outreach and, as always, will be greatly appreciated. As you give, may God greatly bless and reward you in His own abundant way.
Gratefully in Christ,
Dick and Joy Innes
