June 29, 2012

The Techamerica Space Enterprise Council and the George C. Marshall Institute present a forum on

China's Space Program: Assessing the Implications for the U.S.

China's space exploration program continues to post impressive accomplishments. On Friday, June 29, 2012 the George Marshall Institute and the Space Enterprise Council hosted a discussion about China's activities and plans and their implications for the U.S.

Is a new space race emerging? Will the U.S. begin to place greater urgency on its own space exploration efforts in response to China? Does the Chinese program present other national security or geopolitical concerns? Why has China elected to prioritize space activities?

These questions and others were considered by:

  • Dean Cheng, Research Fellow in the Asian Studies Center at the Heritage Foundation - video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8CNVpptkrY
  • Kevin Pollpeter, Deputy Director, East Asia Program/Defense Group Inc. - video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qc-dj4eFruY
