The Jeremy Hammond Defense Committee has returned from New York after attending Jeremy's court date last Thursday, February 21st. It was a hearing for the motion for Judge Preska's recusal from the case. It was an anticlimactic end, without a concrete decision from Judge Preska at the hearing, however, she later denied the motion and will continue to preside over Jeremy's case. A press conference organized by the Free Jeremy Hammond Solidarity Network was held before the hearing.

On February 21st, 10:30, Jeremy will have a court date at MCC. We believe this is the date in which Loretta Preska will decide whether or not to recuse herself in this case. So, we are going, and we encourage people to come show Jeremy support by meeting in Foley Square outside the MCC before going to courthouse, at 9:30, and we will have a short press conference about the political nature of Jeremy's case, seeing how he has been in jail for almost a year, without bail, with a biased judge. We with Jeremy Hammond Defense Committee look forward to meeting Jeremy's supporters in NY.

What's up world? Even though we here at Jeremy Hammond Defense Committee has not made a post recently, there has been a lot of things happening, something we attribute to a strange burst of lag in the cosmos as of recent. Please read this whole post, and check out a heavily updated links section.

Digital high-five from Julian to Jeremy! Solidarity!

Jeremy sends a big big big big thanks to those who have written to him for his birthday. Also reports he is doing ok, all things considering ! Some legal news: The US Government Court prosecution has presented their argument for denial of Jeremy's motion to disqualify Judge Preska's proceeding over this case. The conflict of interest does not seem to be of interest in the eyes of the State, who have returned a formal response to the request. It basically says that even though Loretta's husband, Thomas Kevelar, email was released, along with many clients of his law firm Cohill Gordon, in the Stratfor hack, and that they are listed amongst the victims affected by the hack, it is not considerable as a conflict of interest or bias in the eyes of the State. January 8th is Jeremy's birthday. This announcement may be a bit too soon for people to get anything in to him by the actual date, but if people wanted to send him a card or a letter, he is turning 28. Thanks much!!

The FreeAnons' cd compilation disc is finally available for mail order! It features a number of tracks of bands and artists from all over.The cd is a benefit for the FreeAnons solidarity network (freeanons.org/), Jeremy Hammond Defense Committee (freehammond.com) We have also put in a couple more articles from Courtroom News Services in the links section, they follow some of the events of Jeremy's courtdates.

All over the world, people are ravaged by the separation, desolation, and dehumanizing affects of the Prison Industrial Complex. Annually, on the eve of the new year, people gather outside the jails to demonstrate to those on the inside that they are not alone. That we do feel the devastation by this systematic oppression on our communities. And they are not forgotten! Bring the noise this new years, gather with fellow abolitionists, wherever you are at, at whatever jail that is by you(there sure is to be one by you, they are everywhere) and demand that the prisons be shut down and the people freed.

While NYC urged residents to evacuate the city in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy, those of us imprisoned at the Metropolitan Correctional Center were going nowhere. Without announcing any plans or preparations, they locked every floor down and we were left to weather the storm not knowing what was going to go down...
