The Springfield EMP is one of my favorite choices for carry gun, and if your main competition gun is a 1911, it makes perfect sense to carry this little compact 9mm so that all the controls are the same as your main gun.

Modifying the Glock – Part 1

In a class with Ken Hackathorn some years ago, he described the Glock from the box as a pistol starter kit…a functional weapon that benefitted greatly from a couple of intelligent alterations from the stock form to enhance usability. The ubiquity of the Glock family of pistols and the relative simplicity of the design has led to a bewildering number of aftermarket parts that often finds the new owner asking themselves: What should I do to my Glock?

Good question. I recently purchased a new 4th Generation Glock 34 and in the next couple of weeks I’ll take you through what I do to my Glocks in hopes that it gives you some ideas on what you can do to your combat Tupperware make it easier to use and easier to live with. I view any Glock I own as a potential carry gun and so I tend to set them up with parts/modifications that make the pistol more useable in that role…so if you’re looking for a step-by-step guide for turning your Glock into a space-age blaster that would make Han Solo jealous, you’ll just have to Google the details on one of Costa’s customized Glocks.

So you want to be a gunblogger: dealing with emotion

In past entries in the gunblogger series, which will all eventually be restored to the archives, I’ve talked about the value of critics, and also how to not let your inevitable haters get you down. But what I’ve not talked about is the other side of the hater coin – you. Specifically, what to do when there’s someone in the industry or online that you just don’t like.

If you work in any industry or within any small community long enough, you’ll eventually end up not liking people. It’ll become all too easy to lose objectivity when you deal with those people or work they’ve done, and without attempting it, you’ll have become the thing you wanted to avoid: a hater. So how do we deal with that?

From left to right: the powder charge in a .410 PDX round, then two different views of the actual payload. An interesting note, when we tested the .410 PDX from a proper shotgun in ballistic gel, the defense disks penetrated 12-14 inches in bare gel.

GunUp ends sales to LE in anti-gun states

Sioux Falls, SD – Due to the large number of anti-gun and anti-Second Amendment initiatives that have been passed or proposed in states like New York and Colorado, GunUp will apply all state and federal laws (as applied to civilians) to all state and local government agencies and officers. To put it simply, we will limit all sales of firearms and magazines to only what law abiding citizens may possess in their state, county, or city.

“GunUp believes that all citizens should have the same rights under the Second Amendment,” said Vice President Caleb Giddings. “Unfortunately, some politicians don’t agree, and as such we will not sell firearms, magazines, or accessories to any LE agency or officer in states where those items are prohibited to law abiding citizens.”
GunUp will continue to support law abiding citizens in ban states to the best of our ability, and will continue to offer fair prices on guns and gear to those citizens.

Mini Drivers & Gun Nuts

Shelley’s got a new ride, and I’m so excited for her! I’m especially happy that she chose my favorite brand of car, a Mini! I’m leasing my second at the moment and I couldn’t be happier with it. Though I don’t know how the Mini Cooper will handle the snow of South Dakota, I know she will have no problem packing all her “toys” and heading for the range. Yes, mine is a Mini Clubman, the slightly longer model than Shelley’s Mini Cooper; but, I imagine, we probably end up with similar cargo space because I push the driver seat way back while she requires a bit less legroom. I thought it would be helpful if I created Shelley and Caleb a video of how to load their guns into a Mini, since I’ve been doing it for a while.

Ron’s a legit dude, and this video, presented without any sort of bias but with an eye towards results on paper is quite excellent.

GunVault Correction

In the post “How safe is your gunsafe”, we wrote that Stack-On also manufactures the GunVault line of safes. This was incorrect; Stack-On safes are manufactured at their plan in Illinois, and Stack-On does not own or make GunVault safes. I apologize for any incorrect information.

Fired from a cylinder bore 18 inch barrel .410 shotgun at 20 yards. There are a lot of pellets off the paper there.
