GonzoBoy’s First Day of Kindergarten
Posted in Uncategorized on September 23rd, 2010 at 1:40 PM by GonzoMom
We are actually several weeks into the school year. These pics are from the first day, they aren’t that great. Some of the better pics he has his nametag on and I didn’t want to post his name.
At any rate, he has adjusted very nicely to his new school environment. He loves his new teacher and talks about her a lot. He also has three friends that he talks about regularly. Some of his new friends have lost teeth which GonzoBoy talked about a lot too.
As you can see he is wearing a uniform, this has been surprisingly easy to transition. It does make our mornings run a little smoother. However, I still feel like it is hard for him to show personality. I’m still trying to find ways to make it more unique. Girls have more options for customizing the uniform, plus they have skirt/dress options.
Another big transition was the lunchroom. He is buying his lunch and I think he likes having this control. School lunches really need to be improved but he is making some good choices (sliced cucumbers) and some bad choices (chocolate/strawberry milk).
He has checked out three books since starting school. I’m curious about his thought process when picking out his books and/or the direction he is receiving from the librarian. Some of his choices have been a little odd but this is a fascinating thing for me. I wonder how much our opinions influence his decisions. At any rate he loves going to school on the day that he goes to the library…all our librarian relatives must love this.
I will end this post unrelated to starting school, with a new saying created by GonzoBoy. A couple weekends ago GonzoBoy came up with the term “Dancing on the Railroad” to indicate snack time. I don’t know where it came from but we now have “Dancing on the Railroad” time in our household….Yee Haw!

San Diego trip to visit loved ones

This was the view from our rental, daytime and sunset.
We couldn’t find GonzoGirl’s sippy cup the first day, so she was enjoying her milk from a coffee mug.

Summer Vacation Pics (Continued) – Washington DC

The above pics were from the kids group activity where they learned how to make a better paper airplane.
I couldn’t resist posting this pic. I’m pretty sure she is saying up and pointing up while in the Air and Space Museum.
I think these pics speak loudly that GonzoBoy loved the Air and Space Museum.
