Networking Early Modern Correspondence
A ‘Hasty Blotted Scribble’: New Boyle Original Discovered
An exciting archival discovery for our John Wallis Research Fellow.
Bringing together experts in history, philosophy, science, and literature with librarians, archivists, and systems developers, Cultures of Knowledge is transforming engagement with early modern letters across three interconnected strands of activity:
Research Projects
A set of seven discrete but overlapping research and editorial case studies focussing on the epistolary activities and legacies of some key figures in early modern science.
Infrastructure
The creation of new digital systems capable of organising metadata and other resources generated by these projects into a union catalogue and archive of early modern correspondence.
Events
Inspiring academic meetings designed to forge new conceptual frameworks for letters and build a research community coextensive with the networks under investigation.
