About this talk Tom Reese describes a decade of experiments with John Heuser which led to their theory of synaptic vesicle recycling and allowed them to directly visualize synaptic vesicles fusing with the plasma membrane. The result was a triumph of technical wizardry and scientific insight.
About the speaker Dr. Reese is a Senior Investigator at the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke at the National Institutes of Health and a summer researcher at the Marine Biological Laboratory. He continues to study synaptic structure and function using advanced light and electron microscopy techniques. Reese was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1987.
