Take Action
Dear Friend,
Take action to protect the climate and create clean energy jobs in Maryland!
Urge your state legislators to vote for the Offshore Wind Energy Act today.
|
We're so close -- historic legislation to bring offshore wind to Maryland is coming up for a vote in the next few days, and you can help it pass!
Please take a minute to send a message to your delegate and state senator urging them to vote for offshore wind today.
If passed, the Offshore Wind Energy Act would lead to the development of offshore wind ten miles off the cost of Ocean City; create badly needed clean energy jobs, fight climate change, and save Marylanders millions of dollars in health care costs from dirty energy pollution.
Over the last three years thousands of Marylanders like you attended grassroots lobby days, rallied, made phone calls, and sent emails to show public demand for clean energy in Maryland.
Help make Maryland a state leader for offshore wind, climate protection and clean energy jobs by taking just ten seconds of your time to send a message to your state legislators today.
This past weekend, tens of thousands of people from across the nation traveled to Washington, D.C. for the largest climate rally in U.S. history, let's keep the momentum going.
Your support of offshore wind will help leave a legacy of clean energy, clean air and climate protection for future generations.
Thanks for all you do to protect the environment,
Chris Hill Maryland Chapter Conservation Representative Beyond Coal Sierra Club
P.S. After you take action, be sure to forward this alert to your friends and colleagues!

Moving Maryland Beyond Coal
Tell Governor O'Malley to Protect Our Health from Coal!
In the American Lung Association's (ALA) most recent State of the Air Report, 15 counties in Maryland were monitored for air quality and 11 of them received failing grades!
Two of those counties, Baltimore and Anne Arundel are home to two inefficient dirty coal-fired power plants -- Crane and Wagner. The Crane and Wagner coal plants exceed healthy limits of sulfur dioxide pollution, which contributes to Maryland's poor air quality and health problems like asthma, bronchitis, and heart disease. Now, the coal plants are being sold, which means their operating permits are up for review giving us an opportunity to persuade Governor O'Malley to retire the coal plants and replace them with clean energy.
Send a message to Governor O'Malley today. Ask him to phase out the Crane and Wagner coal plants and come up with a plan for their retirement and replacement with clean energy.
