Sawtooth Group

Who we are: Sawtooth

We are the local Sierra Club group for the Sawtooth region of Idaho. The majority of our members live in the Stanley and Sun Valley areas.

We are lucky to have Steve Wolper, Jack Stevens, Kathy Richmond, Brian Ertz and Daniel Olson as our Sawtooth Group Executive Committee.

Vote "NO" on HJR2 on November 6th

The Idaho Legislature has placed a proposed constitutional amendment (HJR2) on the ballot this November to guarantee the rights of Idahoans to hunt, fish, and trap - forever.  While most people in Idaho are not opposed to hunting and fishing, many are opposed to trapping.  This proposed constitutional amendment states these three methods are the preferred methods of wildlife management.  In the 21st century, science based management methods should govern how all wildlife is managed.

Protect the Boulder-White Clouds

At the heart of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area lie the Boulder-White Clouds Mountains. This spectacular country is home to wildlife like big horn sheep and mountain goats; wild salmon return to its pristine streams; people enjoy quiet recreation. But this area faces threats from increasing roads and mining. Rep. Mike Simpson's Central Idaho Economic Development and Recreation Act bill, which the congressman developed after years of outreach to stakeholders, would protect more than 330,000 acres of this remarkable landscape as Wilderness.

The Sawtooth Group is committed to continue working to protect this special place.
