Desiree Andrews is an editorial assistant at Tin House Books and Tin House magazine. She lives in Portland, Oregon.

Diane Chonette

Diane Chonette is the art director at Tin House. She has a BFA in Communication Design from Pacific Northwest College of Art and a BS in Biology from Santa Clara University. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband and son and a very loud cat.

Lance Cleland

Lance Cleland is the director of the Tin House Summer Writers’ Workshop, an editorial assistant of Tin House magazine, and an editor of The Open Bar. A former plagiarist, he spends his time in Portland making half-court shots while dreaming of the long con.

Masie Cochran

Masie Cochran is an associate editor with Tin House Books and an editor of The Open Bar. After three years working for Inkwell Management, a literary agency in New York City, she now lives in Portland, OR.

Matthew Dickman

Matthew Dickman is the poetry editor of Tin House and the author of All-American Poem (American Poetry Review/ Copper Canyon Press, 2008) and Mayakovsky’s Revolver (Norton, 2012). He is the recipient of the Honickman First Book Prize, the May Sarton Award from the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the 2009 Oregon Book Award, and two fellowships from Literary Arts of Oregon. His poems have appeared in Tin House, McSweeney’s, Ploughshares, and the New Yorker, among others. He lives and works in Portland, Oregon.

Heather Hartley

Heather Hartley is Paris editor at Tin House. She’s the author of Knock Knock, released by Carnegie Mellon University Press. Her poems have appeared in Post Road, Drunken Boat, Forklift Ohio, Mississippi Review and elsewhere. She’s a Co-Director of the Shakespeare and Company Bookshop literary festival and lives in Paris.

Laura Howard

Laura Howard is the circulation director of Tin House magazine. Based in Los Angeles, she currently works with a consortium of magazines including BOMB and the Believer. She has also worked with such publishers as Artforum, Bookforum, Cabinet, and TASCHEN.

Cheston Knapp

Cheston Knapp is managing editor of Tin House magazine and executive director of the Tin House Summer Writers’ Workshop. He lives in Portland, OR, with the choices he’s made.

Emma Komlos-Hrobsky

Holly MacArthur

Holly MacArthur is a founding editor of Tin House. She was formerly senior editor of EcoTraveler magazine and of TravelAge. She has written for various magazines and newspapers, including the Boston Globe, the Chicago Tribune, and the Rocky Mountain News.

Nanci McCloskey

Nanci McCloskey works as the director of publicity and rights for Tin House Books.  After eight years working as a literary agent in Pennsylvania and New York, she now lives in Portland, OR.

Win McCormack

Win McCormack is publisher and editor-in-chief of Tin House magazine. He has been in the magazine and book publishing business since 1976. He published Oregon Magazine from 1976 to 1988, and has also been involved in publishing Oregon Business, Oregon Home, Travel Oregon, Military History Quarterly, and Art and Auction magazines, and was involved in the start-up of Mother Jones. He is editor of the books Profiles of Oregon, Great Moments in Oregon History, and The Rajneesh Chronicles, and won a William Allen White award for his investigative coverage of the Rajneesh cult from 1982-1986. He writes on politics and wrote the article “Deconstructing the Election: Foucault, Derrida and GOP strategy,” about the presidential election debacle in Florida in 2000, for the Nation. He holds a BA in Government from Harvard College and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Oregon.

Tony Perez

Tony Perez is an editor with Tin House Books. He writes about food, books, and basketball, and lives–for the most part happily–in Portland, OR.

Elissa Schappell

Elissa Schappell is a co-founder and editor at large of Tin House, as well as the author of  Blueprints for Building Better Girl and Use Me, a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award, and co-editor with Jenny Offill of the anthologies The Friend Who Got Away and Money Changes Everything. She is a contributing editor at Vanity Fair and a frequent contributor to the New York Times Book Review. Her essays, articles, and stories have appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies such as The Bitch in the House, The KGB Bar Reader, and The Mrs. Dalloway Reader. She teaches in the low-residency MFA program at Queens in Charlotte, North Carolina, and at Brooklyn College.

Brenda Shaughnessy

Brenda Shaughnessy is poetry editor-at-large of Tin House magazine. She is the author of two poetry collections: Interior with Sudden Joy and Human Dark with Sugar, which was a finalist for the 2008 National Book Critic’s Circle Award and winner of the 2007 James Laughlin Award.  A third book is forthcoming from Copper Canyon Press. Her poems have appeared in Best American Poetry, McSweeney’s, The Nation, the New Yorker, the Paris Review, and elsewhere. She is currently Lecturer in Poetry at Princeton University.

Rob Spillman

Rob Spillman is editor of Tin House magazine and editorial advisor of Tin House Books. He was previously the monthly book columnist for Details magazine and is a contributor of book reviews and essays to Salon and Bookforum. He has written for the Baltimore Sun, the Boston Review, British GQ, Connoisseur, Details, Nerve, the New York Times Book Review, Premiere, Rolling Stone, Spin, Sports Illustrated, SPY, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Worth, among other magazines, newspapers, and online magazines. He has also worked for Random House, Vanity Fair, and the New Yorker.

Meg Storey

Meg Storey is an editor with Tin House Books. She lives mostly in Portland, Oregon, and occasionally in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Jakob Vala

Jakob Vala is the graphic designer at Tin House. He grew up in a small cabin in the middle of the woods and attended a one-room schoolhouse where he learned to bake soufflés and recite Shakespeare. He has a BFA in Communication Design from Pacific Northwest College of Art.

Michelle Wildgen

Michelle Wildgen is an executive editor at Tin House magazine. She is the author of the novels You’re Not You and But Not for Long and editor of an anthology, Food & Booze: A Tin House Literary Feast. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in publications and anthologies including the New York Times, O, the Oprah Magazine, Best New American Voices 2004, Best Food Writing 2004 and 2009, and elsewhere.
