Named DC Top 100 Tech Titan

Washingtonian Magazine

spacer I was named one of DC's Top 100 Techies in the May '09 issue of Washingtonian magazine. The list, compiled by energetic Washingtonian editor-at-large Garrett Graff (read my Q & A for the Inside Skinny), features Tech Titans in the categories of Entrepreneur, Industry Leader, Dealmaker, Politico and Community & Thought Leader. I'm in this last group, following Walt Mossberg, one of my fave tech journalists.

The list is amazing for its depth and breadth and for what it reveals about the technology community in D.C. Move over Silicon Valley. I confess I wasn't familiar with many of the names. I'm eager to learn more about what the Politicos and Government 2.0 players are doing. One person I'd like to meet is Ellen Miller, co-founder of the Sunlight Foundation. Another is Macon Phillips, White House director of new media.

Interestingly, I've had my own thoughts about Washington DC as the new "it" city for all things tech. I think we've all been thinking along the same lines for the past six months or so.
