ABOUTEvent History Ride Run Walk 4 Love began in 2007, when a few friends learned about the trafficking of children from the human rights organization Love 146. Deeply impacted by the dark and painful stories of slavery and exploitation we united in the desire to make a meaningful difference and fight this horrible injustice. Ride4Love was founded with two goals in mind (1) to raise financial support for Love 146 and (2) to inform our community about this issue. In 2008 the first Ride4Love drew 60 people and raised over $20,000 for Love 146. In 2009 120 riders raised $35,000. In 2010, with the addition of the run and walk, we had over 200 participants raise $48,000.
It is estimated that 27 million people are currently enslaved around the world and 1.2 million children are trafficked annually. In the United States, more than 100,000 children will be trafficked for the purpose of sexual exploitation this year and more than 300,000 are at risk. The trafficking of children is, without question, one of the darkest social justice issues of our time. Love146 believes in helping grow the movement of abolition while providing effective, thoughtful solutions.
