Mark Drew Present’s “Deez Nuts”: Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts Re-Mastered
1 03 2013
I do not have words for how great this is! Let’s just take all our favourite cartoon characters from our childhood and just make them quote movies and music. I’d personally be sold. “Deez Nuts” was born from the vintage hip-hop obsessed mind of…
“…Australian-born, Tokyo-based artist Mark Drew, it started out innocently enough as a self-produced zine featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and Peppermint Patty (seen above on the request line) conversing in classic rap lines by Wu-Tang, Nas, Biggie, N.W.A, Snoop, P.E. and more. Now it’s a full fledged exhibition of large scale paint-on-canvas which recently opened at the China Heights gallery in suburban Sydney, Australia…” -Egotripland

Get Familiar: Li Hongbo
1 03 2013
Li Hongbo’s paper sculptures use Honeycomb paper, which is commonly applied for toys and festive decorations in China. And based on those, he makes his own creations by manually cutting, folding, and gluing thousands of sheets in hexagon tubes. This technique allows for the art pieces to become elastic and resilient.

“Choros”: An Experimental Art Film by Michael Langan
28 02 2013
“Choros is the latest experimental art film from director Michael Langan that explores the movement of the human body, specifically the motion of dancer Terah Maher. Choros follows in the steps of Eadweard Muybridge, Etienne-Jules Marey, and Norman McLaren, all of whom spent years studying the physical moment of animals and humans through film. Langan takes the next step using new digital innovations to layer some 32 sequential instances of a single movement and then stretch it out over time.” -Christopher Jobson
