After hours takes us on an unusual tour of downtown Seattle. You’ll split into roving bands of searchers with mobile text messaging as your compass. You might have to choose between stopping for a beer at one of the check-ins or pushing forward for a chance at valuable prizes. In the end, we’ll all end up at the same place.

This session takes us on a field trip to the Seattle Central Library auditorium. Peter will highlight the exciting developments with HTML5 that are improving the fidelity and capabilities of web apps, like touch interactions, drag and drop, offline activity, storage, geolocation, and more.

After Peter’s presentation, you have the option of taking an informative tour of the modern design of the Seattle Central Library. You can choose a guided tour or just explore on your own. You’re also welcome to just take some time for yourself to explore downtown Seattle before heading over to the lab tour and reception at Blink on the waterfront.

The staff at Blink welcome us to their waterfront office and take us on a tour of their usability labs. This is also the location for our reception.

Blink is generously hosting us at their waterfront office. Enjoy great views of Puget Sound, drinks, appetizers, and prize give-aways.

8:30 am ♦ Matthew Ellison ♦ Welcome to Wednesday

Matthew will provides us with his thoughts about what’s happened so far and ideas about way to keep the discussion going after we head for home.

8:50 am ♦ Luke Wroblewski ♦ Designing for Touch

In this session, Luke Wroblewski, author of Mobile First, will walk through the principles of designing for touch and how our applications need to adapt to a world of direct manipulation and touch input. 

9:30 am ♦ Perspectives with Matthew and Luke

Matthew Ellison helps us find out a bit more about Luke Wroblewski’s current activities  and interests. 

10:10 am ♦ Dana Chisnell ♦ Rethinking User Research and Usability Testing for the Social Web

While the Web has evolved from flat documents to being fluidly ambient, we’re using user research methods from 1994. In this session, Dana presents 5 major issues confronting UXers working in the social web, challenges you to creative solutions, and shares experiences from pioneering researchers.
