About gstring
gstring is a music news site. I link and comment on anything that might interest the serious music nut.

This includes (but isn't limited to):

  • upcoming album releases
  • tour announcements
  • music technology such as mp3 and the related issues
  • reviews of new albums
  • live reviews

The site is run from Melbourne, Australia so if my perspective seems Melbourne-centric, that's probably because it is.

I'm brashly opinionated about what is and is not worth covering. Submissions that mention the following:

  • Celine Dion
  • Britney Spears
  • Boyzone
  • Mariah Carey
or any of their ilk will be dismissed quicker than you can say "talentless wonder".

I welcome your opinionated submissions with wide open arms and big slobbering kisses. You can submit suggestions via email (gstring@gilliver.net) or by filling out the form on the submissions page.

The concept for this site is a blatant rip-off of the wunnerful Slashdot website, albeit for music nuts instead of nerds.

Occasionally I'll post photos that I've taken at various gigs I've been to. If you're interested in me wandering along to your show and taking photos, just holler. I tend to do it for the fun rather than the money. If the shots don't hit gstring because I'm too lazy or whatever, rest assured you'll get a CDROM of every shot I take which you can use as you see fit (frisbee, coaster, etc). As I work with a digital camera (Olympus 4040Z) and don't have a printer, I can't promise prints but you might be surprised at how useful a CDROM of images can be. You can see some of my shots over at my Stephen Cummings website.
